A local pest control company wanted to increase local organic traffic for specific, high competition keywords.

Averse Pest Control is a special case for us since we started working on it with literally zero customers. What we did was vital to building a strong online foundation for the company.
After building out what we called a “skeleton” site, we mapped out which pages would be needed to rank for the most valuable keywords.
Sometimes this process brings surprises, because often what we find is that the keywords with the most search volume aren’t necessarily the most valuable.
After performing in-depth keyword research, we had a good idea of what needed to be done. With local-centric businesses, it’s important to start by getting listed in all important directories, both local and industry-specific. This starts with a Google Business listing, shown below, and continues on with Yelp, AngiesList, HomeAdvisor, etc.
After getting the most popular and obvious citations completed, we optimized the website for conversion elements. This takes time and testing *and is never really “complete”, but we felt good about the clean layout and clear calls to action.
In home service businesses, we’ve found that the maps section has accounted for more and more customers, so we spend lots of time optimizing, filling out the GMB completely, and building prominence with it.
We’re definitely not where we want to be, but within four months of hard work, we’ve seen over 35,000 impressions on Google Search and calls have begun to ramp up already. We’re looking forward to long-term growth and expansion with this company, so creating a solid foundation was absolutely critical.
